The 2018 ASEE Robotics Competition was held in Salt Lake City, UT.
The 2018 Competition required teams to construct a robot that would traverse a hexagonal track while retrieving and sorting orange and white ping pong balls before depositing the balls into their respective goal areas. Cedarville’s robot entry, named Buzz, used a vacuum tube assembly and a line-following navigation system to traverse the track and retrieve the ping pong balls, with a color sensor to sort between orange and white. The robot was 3D printed and fitted with a computer fan (to provide suction) and a printed circuit board, along with an Arduino Due. Cedarville finished in 2nd place, and was interviewed by a local newspaper after the competition ended.
